About the Department

The Electrical Engineering Department at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Technology (SVIT), Vasad was established in the year 2024 with an approved intake of 30 students. The department is committed to imparting quality technical education and developing technically competent, innovative, and industry-ready electrical engineers who can contribute effectively to national and global technological advancement.

Electrical Engineering is a core and fundamental branch of engineering that deals with the design, installation, operation, maintenance, and production of electrical systems and equipment. The department offers strong academic coverage in major areas such as power generation, transmission and distribution systems, electrical machines, power electronics, control systems, renewable energy technologies, electric vehicles, and industrial automation, making it an evergreen and high-demand discipline.

A strong emphasis is placed on clear theoretical foundations, project-based learning, and hands-on laboratory work to bridge the gap between academics and industry. Students receive training in MATLAB-SIMULINK and AutoCAD, enhancing their analytical, design, and professional skills. Through expert lectures, seminars, workshops, industrial visits, and training programs, supported by qualified and experienced faculty, the department strives to produce skilled, responsible, and future-ready electrical engineers.

The department prepares students for a strong and promising future, particularly in emerging fields such as solar and wind energy, smart grids, energy storage systems, and electric vehicle technologies. Government initiatives promoting green energy, electrification, and sustainable development further enhance career opportunities for electrical engineers.

Graduates of the program have diverse career opportunities in Government and Public Sector organizations like GETCO, MGVCL, Railways, Power Grid Corporation of India, NTPC, as well as in leading Multinational Companies such as ABB, Schneider Electric, Siemens, L&T, Tata Power, and Adani Power. The department also actively promotes entrepreneurship and start-up culture in areas such as solar projects, electrical contracting, consultancy services, and energy auditing.

Electronics Workshop Practice

The Electronics Workshop Practice for EEW, BEEE is a form to gain hands-on experience with electronic circuits and devices. It helps students apply theoretical knowledge by assembling, testing, and troubleshooting real circuits, covering both analog and digital electronics. This gives students practical understanding of electronic systems and their applications. The lab is well-equipped with essential instruments and components such as transformers, component boards, soldering stations, multimeters, capacitors, resistors, inductors, and other basic electronic devices. Students perform exercises like connecting circuits, testing components, and building small electronic projects. The lab emphasizes safe handling of equipment, correct wiring, and accurate measurement techniques, which are essential for professional practice. The workshop also encourages project work and experimentation, helping students develop technical skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability. By bridging the gap between theory and practice, the Electronics Workshop Practice prepares students for industrial work, higher studies, and successful careers in electrical and electronics engineering.

Electrical and Electronics Lab

The Electrical and Electronics Laboratory for DCC, BOE, EDC is a well-equipped practical laboratory designed to provide students with hands-on experience in electrical and electronic engineering. It allows students to apply theoretical concepts, observe real-time circuit behaviour, and understand practical engineering principles. The lab is furnished with modern instruments, measuring devices, and experimental setups, including ammeters, DSO, CROs, function generators, power supplies, and power electronic devices. Students perform experiments related to DC and AC circuits, network theorems, electrical machines, power measurement, and electronic components. The Electrical and Electronics Laboratory serves as a bridge between theory and practice, preparing students for professional careers, industry challenges, and higher studies. By combining practical experiments with modern tools and guided supervision, students gain a comprehensive understanding of electrical and electronic engineering concepts. The lab plays a vital role in equipping students with the skills necessary for innovation, research, and effective application of knowledge in real-world scenarios.
