About the Department

The Diploma in Engineering program was introduced at SVIT in 2024. The Diploma in Information Technology Department at SVIT, Vasad offers quality technical education with a strong focus on practical skills and industry requirements. Currently, the department has an intake capacity of 30 students, which is extended to 60 seats. The department is supported by experienced and dedicated faculty members who emphasize both theoretical understanding and hands-on learning. Well-equipped laboratories with the latest software tools provide practical exposure and help students prepare for higher studies and employment opportunities.

To enhance students’ knowledge and skills, the Information Technology Department organizes industry visits, expert lectures, and workshops. Students of this department also participate in various extra- and co-curricular activities. They make use of the college’s excellent sports facilities and achieve notable success in sports tournaments.

Database Management System Laboratory

The Database Management System Laboratory provides students with hands-on experience through practical experiments and projects related to DBMS concepts. It focuses on efficient data storage, management, and retrieval using automated and reliable database systems suitable for modern applications.

The lab helps students understand database design, relational schemas, and table structures while emphasizing non-redundant and well-organized databases. It supports technologies such as SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and Apache, enabling practice of DDL, DML, and DCL queries and database connectivity, thereby preparing students for real-world IT industry requirements.

Java Programming Laboratory

The Java Programming Laboratory is designed to provide students with practical exposure to Java programming and object-oriented concepts. The lab helps students understand core Java fundamentals such as classes, objects, inheritance, polymorphism, abstraction, and exception handling through hands-on experiments and coding exercises.

In this laboratory, students practice writing, compiling, and executing Java programs using standard development tools. The lab environment supports learning of Java applications, file handling, and basic graphical and console-based programs. Through regular practical sessions, students develop logical thinking, problem-solving ability, and programming skills, preparing them for advanced studies and careers in software development and the IT industry.

Web Development and Programming Lab

The Web Development Laboratory is established to provide diploma students with hands-on experience in modern web technologies and programming tools. The laboratory is equipped with computers powered by Intel Core i5 processors, 4 GB RAM, and 500 GB HDD, offering a suitable environment for practical learning. Students utilize this facility to design and develop dynamic, interactive, and user-friendly websites.

In this laboratory, students receive structured guidance to create both static and dynamic web pages using technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and Python. They gain experience in incorporating multimedia components including text, images, animations, videos, and audio into web applications. Practical exercises help students understand client-side and server-side scripting and how browsers interact with web servers. Overall, the lab focuses on strengthening technical skills, logical thinking, and real-world web development capabilities, preparing students for careers in the IT sector.
